Marty Dowd, Beth Yingling, and Laura Kelly combined forces to develop a strategy for a religious order to sell real estate that it was no longer using to its full potential. They helped the order put the proceeds into a trust for the ongoing support of its aging members and into a newly formed charitable and educational foundation to support the order’s activities in the community. Structuring these enterprises to receive the tax benefits accruing to a public charity under the Internal Revenue Code, the team ensured the maximum support for the community activities of the order.
