Deirdre Burke is an associate in McCarter’s Bankruptcy & Restructuring Group, focusing her practice on creditor rights, bankruptcy and commercial litigation. She represents lenders, financial institutions, secured and unsecured creditors as well as bankruptcy trustees in both state and federal court proceedings.
Deirdre has experience litigating commercial foreclosure actions and actions to enforce promissory notes and guaranties. She represents secured creditors in various bankruptcy court proceedings, including actions objecting to discharge, actions objecting to the dischargeability of a debt, motions to lift the automatic stay, and defense of avoidance actions.
She also assists in the representation of trustees in bankruptcy proceedings, including litigation to avoid and recover fraudulent conveyances and preferential transfers, claim objections, actions challenging the extent and validity of a claim, motions to recover property, “363” sales, private and public auctions, and estate administration.
Prior to joining the firm, Deirdre successfully represented individual and business debtors in chapter 11 proceedings, and prepared and obtained confirmation of chapter 11 plans of reorganization. While in law school, she served as an intern for the Honorable Elizabeth S. Stong, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Eastern District of New York.
