Mr. Fields’ practice focuses principally upon commercial litigation.
Mr. Fields has represented policyholders in all manner of insurance coverage matters including Directors’ and Officers’ (“D&O”), Errors and Omissions (“E&O”), Comprehensive General Liability (“CGL”), Crime Loss and Fidelity Bonds, Business Interruption, Transit Insurance, Advertising Injury and Trade Libel Coverage. Recent notable representations have included securing, through litigation, mediation and negotiation the following: D&O insurance for both publicly traded and privately held entities to defend class actions and to fund class action settlements, E&O insurance coverage for entities and individuals providing professional services, D&O and E&O insurance to fund the settlement of large government qui tam actions, multi-million dollar transit loss recoveries for a large pharmaceutical company, defense and indemnity costs to fund the settlement of a multi-million dollar trade libel verdict, CGL coverage for historical, industrial environmental cleanup costs, CGL coverage arising out of a commercial building collapse, and a large recovery under a Crime Loss policy due to employee defalcation.
Mr. Fields has also represented owners, developers and professionals in construction contracting and litigation. He has some 25 years of experience in counseling financial, energy, telecommunications, internet, real estate, and other commercial clients in crucial business matters and in federal and state court litigations and arbitrations. In addition to his trial-level experience, Mr. Fields is a seasoned appellate practitioner.
Activities and Further Information:
Mr. Fields is active in youth sports, having coached and managed Little League Baseball, and Youth Soccer and Basketball for over 15 years. He wishes he was good enough to coach golf as well, but is still working on that one. Mr. Fields has devoted many hours of pro bono time on behalf of 9/11 families and other worthy causes, is a Member of the Bar Association of the City of New York, The New York State Bar Association, The New York Athletic Club, and The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick in the City of New York. He resides in Pelham Manor, New York with his wife and four children.
