Susan Feeney Nominated as NJ State Bar Association Secretary

Newark, Mar. 9, 2006 -Susan A. Feeney, a Partner in the Newark office of McCarter & English, has received the recommendation of the New Jersey State Bar Association's nominating committee to be elected Secretary at NJSBA's annual meeting in May. Such recommendations have always been endorsed by the membership.

"Traditionally, the NJSBA Secretary will advance to the presidency in five years," said McCarter & English Managing Partner Lois M. Van Deusen. "Sue has already worked wonders in promoting and facilitating pro bono participation. We congratulate her on this honor and look forward to her future services for New Jersey practitioners."

Ms. Feeney has been an NJSBA Trustee since 2001 and a Delegate to the American Bar Association since 2002. She has been President of the Legal Services Foundation of Essex County since 2004 and chaired Volunteer Lawyers for Justice from 2001 to 2004. With a practice focusing on state taxation and local property taxation for all types of industries, as well as redevelopment law and condemnation, Ms. Feeney serves on the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on the Tax Court and the State and Local Tax Committee of the ABA Tax Section. She also has been appointed to the Sales and Use Tax Review Commission of the State of New Jersey since 2000. Ms. Feeney lectures frequently on state taxes and local property taxes to civic and professional groups and is an adjunct professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University in the Tax Masters Program. She is the attorney for the N.J. Association of County Tax Board Commissioners and Administrators.

A graduate of Fordham University School of Law (J.D., 1981) and Seton Hall University (B.S., 1978, summa cum laude), Ms. Feeney served as a law clerk on the New Jersey Tax Court from 1981 to 1982. She is listed in the 2005-6 and 2007 editions of The Best Lawyers in America.
