Boston College: Chief Executive's Club of Boston
October’s guest speaker was Ryan Lance, Chairman and CEO of ConocoPhillips, one of the world’s largest independent gas exploration and production companies. The Texas-based company has a market capitalization of about $65 billion and employs more than 18,000 worldwide. Mr. Lance discussed the current state and future of the oil and gas industry, commenting that for various renewable energies to supplant oil and gas, renewable energy would need to increase supply from its 13% in 2012, to 35% by 2040. He projected that with a world of seven billion people, growing to nine billion by 2040, we're going to need every source of energy available to fuel the economy.
