Alec Kerr is Of Counsel with the law firm of McCarter & English. He concentrates his practice in securities, insurance coverage, antitrust, telecommunications and complex commercial litigation.

Before joining McCarter & English, Mr. Kerr was a founding partner at Philadelphia's Hoyle, Morris & Kerr LLP, where he was a lead attorney in a wide variety of cases, especially in the securities area. His career has included service as Deputy Attorney General in the Pennsylvania Department of Justice.

Active in the field of legal education, Mr. Kerr regularly teaches courses in trial advocacy for the Academy of Advocacy and the Philadelphia Bar Association. He is a frequent lecturer in continuing legal education seminars for practicing lawyers.

Mr. Kerr has successfully defended numerous securities, RICO and ERISA matters for some of the nation's largest health care carriers; individuals and corporations in SEC insider-trading investigations; and several class action securities actions. He is experienced in handling litigation concerning insurance coverage and private equity matters, and has defended clients in complex commercial disputes.

Mr. Kerr is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the fields of Bet-the-Company Litigation, Commercial Litigation, and Securities/Capital Markets Litigation, and has been named the Best Lawyers' 2014-2015 "Lawyer of the Year" for Bet-the-Company Litigation in Philadelphia.
