Christopher C. Loeber represents Fortune 500 and other large corporate policyholders in a broad range of complex insurance disputes across diverse industries. He has obtained coverage for policyholders in matters involving first-party property and business interruption, products liability, recall and contamination, directors and officers, comprehensive general liability, errors and omissions, fiduciary liability, trade credit, marine cargo, and broad-based, leveraged corporate-owned life insurance policies. Chris’ client base encompasses food manufacturers and distributors, refineries, oil and gas enterprises, chemical producers, retailers, life sciences companies, financial services providers, franchisors, and other sophisticated entities.

Unlike most coverage lawyers who have represented clients on only one side of the industry, Chris began his career defending multinational insurance carriers. Clients at McCarter & English directly benefit from Chris’ carrier-side experience because that experience has given him a deep understanding of how insurance companies underwrite policies, value claims, and approach lawsuits.

Although he spends much of his time litigating, arbitrating, and mediating complex coverage disputes, Chris is acutely aware that an ounce of counseling prevention is worth a pound of litigation cure. With that in mind, Chris works with corporate policyholders and their insurance brokers during the policy purchase and renewal stages to understand and anticipate applicable risks, and to negotiate the best available insurance coverage.

Chris writes and lectures frequently on a variety of insurance coverage and litigation topics. He is a contributor to Insurance Coverage Disputes (Law Journal Press) and is also co-author of “Non-Verbal Behavior, Gender and Influence,” Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, June 1995.

Chris has been recognized as a Chambers USA lawyer for 2017 and 2018.
