Daniel Weston is an associate in the firm’s Intellectual Property/Information Technology practice group. A registered patent attorney, he is actively engaged in the preparation, prosecution, and enforcement of U.S. and foreign patents. He has experience in a wide range of technologies, including computer and database architecture, semiconductors, operating systems, control systems, mobile applications, and networks.

Daniel focuses on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications related to software and computer-implemented inventions. One of Daniel’s areas of experience is subject matter eligibility under 35 U.S.C. 101 and Alice Corp. v. CLS Bank International, and particularly what kinds of software related inventions are patentable. This issue has reshaped patent law, with several important cases having been recently decided by the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Prior to joining the firm, Daniel was a patent prosecution associate at a large St. Louis firm. There he worked on developing patent portfolios for various high technology companies located throughout the U.S. Daniel has also worked as a litigation associate at a New York City firm and as a software engineer.
