Emily Streett helps electric utilities such as rural electric cooperatives and public power entities as well as independent power producers with their energy transactional and regulatory, tax and general corporate matters.

Ms. Streett has extensive experience assisting clients in negotiating power purchases—including traditional power purchase agreements as well as Edison Electric Institute, ISDA and other master agreements—and in financing, purchasing and developing power projects. She has also negotiated master agreements for hedging and implementing energy management arrangements. Ms. Streett’s project development experience includes negotiating ownership arrangements and related financing, construction and equipment procurement contracts, fuel supply and delivery arrangements, interconnection and transmission agreements, and permitting as well as addressing requests for proposals, regulatory developments and dispute resolutions. Her project development and construction experience also includes projects financed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Utilities Services and incentive programs for renewable resources.

Drawing on her tax education and experience, Ms. Streett recommends for clients organizational and contracting structures designed to minimize business disruptions while allowing them to accomplish various objectives, including minimizing taxation, preserving tax-exempt status, maximizing access to financing or tax incentive programs, isolating business or regulatory risks, and complying with regulatory and regional transmission organization requirements.

With more than 25 years in practice, Ms. Streett has significant experience assisting clients in such industries as transportation, healthcare, e-commerce, and product distribution and sales.
