Handling Computer Data Loss

A publicly held corporation with worldwide operations learned that consumer credit card numbers and addresses had been pilfered and placed on a server based in a European country that is not tied to the European Data Security Directives. This made the credit information and addresses accessible by anyone over the Internet. Through swift action in counseling the client by Scott Christie, responsibilities to U.S.-based consumers were addressed under federal and state laws and all disclosure obligations were met.
