Jeff Matrullo represents private developers and institutions in commercial real estate matters involving acquisition, disposition, leasing and financing.

For acquisition and disposition matters, Jeff handles everything from title to due diligence to strategic deal structuring involving retail, office and multifamily projects as well as environmentally impaired properties.

In leasing matters, Jeff represents both landlords and tenants, nationally and locally, in retail, office and industrial leasing transactions including those involving new construction or significant renovations to existing structures.

Jeff also helps banks, institutional lenders and borrowers throughout the country structure complex financing transactions involving acquisition loans, construction loans, permanent loans or leasehold mortgage syndicated loans. Jeff’s financing work includes syndicated loans involving multiple lenders and participants and financing incorporating such collateral types as retail centers, units within a common interest community, office buildings and equipment.

Jeff serves in leadership roles within the real estate industry and his community. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Center’s Next Generation Planning Committee and is an elected member of the Board of Education for the Town of Cromwell, Connecticut.

Jeff has been recognized by Chambers USA for 2017-2018.  Jeff has also been honored by the Connecticut Law Tribune as one of the New Leaders in the Law for 2016, which selection recognizes those who stand out as a new leader in the Connecticut legal profession whose achievements to date distinguish them from their peers.

Representative Matters

Represented private owner in the development, financing, and sale of commercial properties of various types, including retail, multifamily, vacant land and properties within a common interest community.
Represented private owner in the negotiation and documentation of a $27,600,000 construction-to-permanent loan in connection with the development of a 224-unit residential apartment complex.
Represented university, as landlord, in negotiating retail leases with national retailers, including Apple Inc.
Represented university in the $100+ million acquisition of new campus facilities for use as laboratory and manufacturing space.
Represented private developer in the development of a 75+ unit affordable housing community, which included local government financing and tax credit financing from the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority.
