John Martin helps clients with their construction transactional and litigation needs. He focuses his practice on representing owners in the drafting and negotiation of general contracts, subcontracts, design-build agreements, EPC agreements, engineering agreements, architectural agreements, and master agreements for continuing design and construction services.

John has extensive experience handling construction litigation for public and private owners, construction managers, architectural firms, general contractors, and specialty subcontractors. He has participated in complex litigation, arbitration, and appellate work, including matters involving defective construction and design claims, delay claims, payment disputes, breach of construction and design agreements, zoning, and cases of mold and microbial contamination. John also has experience with employment matters affecting the construction industry, including prevailing wage, wage and hour, OSHA defense, and employment discrimination claims before administrative agencies, and state and federal courts.

Representative clients have included industrial manufacturers, technology companies, insurers, colleges and universities, independent schools, developers, banks, museums, retailers, bio-pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers, state agencies, cities and towns, general contractors and specialty subcontractors.

John has authored construction content for Lexis Practice Advisor, including updating its 2017 AIA B101 Owner-Architect Agreement.
