Mr. Sklar has extensive experience in intellectual property proceedings and related disputes in a variety of forums. By way of example, he has represented clients in arbitration, in litigation before various district courts throughout the country, and in appellate proceedings before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Mr. Sklar has participated in a broad range of complex patent litigation activities including pre-suit investigations, motion practice, deposition discovery, written discovery, expert discovery, trial, and appellate proceedings.

In addition to his litigation experience, Mr. Sklar has conducted intellectual property due diligence investigations.

Mr. Sklar has participated in proceedings concerning a variety of technologies, including pharmaceuticals, agricultural products, medical devices, electronic devices, and consumer products. Mr. Sklar’s recent representations include the following matters:

  • Mr. Sklar represented a medical device manufacturer in a patent infringement litigation dispute at trial and during appellate proceedings before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Mr. Sklar was part of a trial team that obtained a favorable jury verdict and drafted appellate briefs that led to a positive outcome on appeal. 
  • Mr. Sklar represented a manufacturer of flash memory products in a patent infringement litigation proceeding. The proceeding was resolved on favorable terms after our client prevailed during early motion practice. 

  • Mr. Sklar successfully represented an IT service provider in a trade secret misappropriation dispute in state court. 
  • Mr. Sklar successfully represented a consumer product manufacturer in multiple design patent infringement proceedings.

Following his graduation from law school, Mr. Sklar served as a law clerk to the Honorable Mary Ellen Coster Williams of the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. During his clerkship term, Mr. Sklar assisted Judge Williams with the management of a complex civil litigation docket, which included cases concerning patent disputes, environmental disputes, bid protest controversies, tax controversy matters and government contract disputes.

In addition to his legal education, Mr. Sklar has a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from Cornell University. As an undergraduate, he performed research on drug delivery systems. Mr. Sklar has also held technical positions in the pharmaceutical and consumer products industries.
