Ravin R. Patel is an associate in the Newark office of McCarter & English, LLP, where he concentrates his practice in the areas of intellectual property and information technology litigation.

Mr. Patel’s practice focuses on litigation in federal courts. He has represented clients in patent disputes involving a variety of technologies, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and photogrammetry. He has also represented clients in a variety of other intellectual property disputes, including file-sharing (torrent), trademark, and trade secrets.

Mr. Patel has assisted as local counsel in over 100 New Jersey federal district court cases, including pharmaceutical, patent, trademark, antitrust, and environmental cases. He assists counsel navigate the court’s local civil and patent rules, provides valuable insight into New Jersey case law and statutes, and offers familiarity with courtroom practices and prior decisions of judges presiding over cases.

In addition to Mr. Patel’s federal litigation experience, he has assisted clients with investigations by the Federal Trade Commission over advertising claims, and has also assisted clients with managing data breaches.

Mr. Patel received his Bachelors of Science in Accounting, cum laude, from Rutgers Business School. He earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from New York Law School, where he was a Harlan Scholar affiliated with the Center for Business Law and Policy, a Web Editor for the New York Law School Law Review, and a member of the Securities Arbitration Clinic. Mr. Patel also received a certification in patent law from the Institute for Information Law and Policy at New York Law School. While in law school, Mr. Patel was a legal intern at New Jersey’s Office of the Attorney General, Division of Law.
