Tom Foley is an associate in the intellectual property / information technology group and practices intellectual property litigation and patent prosecution. His prosecution experience includes preparation and prosecution of chemical and high tech patent applications. Tom has also worked on inter partes review and reexamination proceedings of pharmaceutical patents. His federal court litigation experience includes pharmaceutical, software, and mechanical device cases.

Prior to attending law school, Tom worked in the electric utility field, primarily on environmental and system planning issues. As an undergraduate chemistry student, he performed laboratory research involving synthesis of inorganic nanoparticles and spectroscopic characterization of nanoparticle/chromophore systems. Tom also taught in his school’s general chemistry laboratory program, and he is proud to report that none of his approximately 65 students was ever injured in any way.

Tom interned in the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts during law school. He was also an officer of his school’s moot court program and president of its Environmental and Energy Law Society.
