BOSTON – Intellectual Asset Management, the prestigious bi-monthly publication that looks at intellectual property issues from a business perspective, has named Boston-based McCarter & English partner Lee Carl Bromberg to its list of the world’s leading patent professionals.
Based on reviews by Bromberg’s peers and clients, IAM Patent 1000, the magazine’s global guide to the top patent practitioners and firms worldwide, cited Bromberg for patent litigation.
In its Massachusetts-specific chapter, the guide also recognized McCarter & English for the strength of the firm’s patent litigation and overall intellectual property practices, noting that the firm “has a great crew locally and must be doing something right – it is extremely busy and always in demand” as well as being “an adroit all-round performer [able to] earn recommendations for its work across the contentious/non-contentious divide.”
Elizabeth A. Hanley, leader of the 400-attorney firm’s Intellectual Property & Information Technology Practice Group, called the IAM Patent 1000 recognition “an honor on a number of fronts.”
“This means so much to Lee, to our Boston office, to our practice group, and to the firm as a whole for a number of reasons,” said Hanley, who, like Bromberg, is Boston-based. “The listings are generated by the group that’s most important to us—our clients—and also by our peers in the practice of intellectual property law who recognize expertise in litigation and transactional settings. IAM is a prestigious publication in our field, and the IAM Patent 1000 listing is a coveted position.”
Bromberg came in for recognition—he is “atop many an in-house counsel’s list,” IAM wrote—for his trial experience and his skill in handling patent, trademark and copyright, trade secret and unfair competition cases.
IAM Patent 1000 is created through an extensive research process conducted over several months by a team of full-time analysts, involving more than 1,500 interviews with patent practitioners worldwide.
McCarter’s renowned IP team has more than 100 attorneys plus technical specialists and patent agents with industry experience. The practice group comprises 26 attorneys with PhDs and one with a medical degree. and graduate degrees in engineering and life sciences (including 27 PhDs and an MD). The team draws upon its experience in patent prosecution and litigation, technology licensing and transfer, corporate transactional and general business matters to assist clients in building and managing patent portfolios that best serve their strategic business goals, whether developing patent portfolios for pre-clinical products of early-stage companies or blockbuster biologics for major pharmaceutical companies.
