McCarter & English today announced the addition of former DOJ antitrust attorney Robin Crauthers. Crauthers brings to the firm more than a decade of antitrust experience in both the public and private sector. She joins the firm’s Washington D.C. office as a partner from Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.
“Robin is an incredibly talented and experienced attorney who has counseled her clients on all aspects of antitrust law. We are very pleased to welcome her to the firm,” said Joseph T. Boccassini, McCarter & English’s Firmwide Managing Partner. “The timing of her arrival is not a coincidence—she joins at a critical point of transition as our clients prepare to navigate a changing regulatory environment, and we’re thrilled she has chosen to join McCarter.”
Crauthers has notable experience advising clients in a wide breadth of sectors, including technology, clean energy, trade associations, sports, grocery, airlines, and retail. In addition, she has experience in the healthcare and life sciences industries, including for hospitals, pharmaceutical, and bioscience companies. She applies her deep knowledge of clients’ business needs and her understanding of the environment and regulatory risk in which they operate to devise creative solutions to clients’ issues. She also analyzes clients’ risk tolerance to identify the optimal solution to ensure compliance with civil antitrust laws that govern all aspects of operations and growth—contracts, employment law, mergers, and unfair competition. Additionally, Crauthers advises businesses that have received subpoenas and investigation demands from antitrust agencies.
“McCarter’s national reach and broad focus provide an ideal platform for me to grow my practice, and support existing and future clients in new and ongoing antitrust matters,” said Crauthers. “I also look forward to working closely with my colleagues and our clients as we navigate the coming regulatory changes expected in the new administration.”
Crauthers started her career in the DOJ honors program as an antitrust trial attorney, where she spent six years managing high-stakes litigation and substantial mergers and investigations in the technology, media and entertainment, and telecommunications industries. Notably, she worked on a ticketing matter that is a basis for the current Ticketmaster lawsuit, and was a key part of the litigation teams in United States v. AB Electrolux, United States v. Tribune Publishing, and United States v. Deere/Monsanto/Precision Planting.
In private practice, she has supported clients through all stages of mergers, from ensuring antitrust compliant due diligence to required regulatory filings, and helping with cross-jurisdictional analysis related to the deal. She has guided clients through the due diligence and the clean team process and successfully gained approval of several substantial multibillion dollar deals, including representing Mandiant in receiving early clearance for Google’s $4.5 billion acquisition, and achieving DOJ clearance without required remedies in ForgeRock’s $2.3 billion acquisition by Thoma Bravo.
Crauthers earned her J.D. from Washington University School of Law, and received a B.A. in finance from the University of South Florida. She is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Florida. She serves as the Vice Chair of the American Bar Association Antitrust Law Section Janet Steiger Fellowship Project and is active in the Retail Industry Leaders Association’ annual Retail Law Conference as a panelist.
