Former Justice Department antitrust attorney Robin Crauthers spoke with The National Law Journal about the DOJ’s lawsuit alleging that the acquisition of a travel management company by its competitor “threatens to substantially lessen competition” in the travel management services industry. Robin Crauthers, who was a trial attorney under the Obama and Trump administrations, said the while the suit was filed by DOJ during the final day’s of the Biden presidency, it is a traditional antitrust suit any administration could pursue. “It’s hard to tell from the outside looking in, but from experience, the DOJ doesn’t typically sue unless they have the belief the case is fairly strong,” she said. “So the incoming AAG will consider the evidence on hand, evaluate the strength of the case, and is unlikely to withdraw the case.”
