Since its rollout, DAWSON — the new case management system named for the Tax Court’s longest-serving judge — has attracted both praise and concern — the former for the new possibility of electronically filing petitions and the latter for the unavailability of features from the old system, which the court had used since the 1980s. Lawrence (Larry) Sannicandro notes for Tax Notes that DAWSON is like other new systems in that glitches can be expected, but the Tax Court might want to consider issuing a call for more robust comments from practitioners.
