Description
The Marketing and Communications Manager drives and supports the firm’s communications strategy throughout its channels (website, social media, client communications, internal communications and intranet) with thoughtful creative and content marketing. Media relations/PR may be involved.
This is an exempt position that reports to the CMO and manages 1-2 specialist(s). A highly skilled communicator with strong writing and proofreading skills, ability to adapt to firm style, strong interpersonal skills and an exceptional level of attention to detail are required. Must be comfortable multi-tasking, managing tight deadlines without compromising work quality and working in a fast-paced environment for clients who have a wide variety of personalities and work styles.
Responsibilities
- Implementation of content strategy for internal and external marketing communications, including materials promoting firm capabilities across practices, industries, and offices.
- Manages firm “editorial calendar,” encompassing activities fueled by marketing and business development, employee relations, DEI, recruiting and other firm business areas.
- Writes and edits copy for web, collateral, digital platforms, produces talking points on occasion for firm leadership and internal events, (and possibly media pitches), ensuring firm’s communications standards are applied to internal and external messaging and that marketing materials are consistent in tone, quality and content.
- Supervises and mentors 1-2 professional(s) s on the Marketing Communications team by contributing to our cohesive team dynamic, providing technical and professional guidance, and giving direct constructive feedback to develop team members. Guide them in juggling priorities and producing excellent work product.
- Maintains a strong knowledge of the legal market and the capabilities of the firm nationwide, applying this knowledge to maximize the effectiveness of marketing initiatives.
- May work with the Public Relations team and CMO to identify and leverage media opportunities
- Manages the production of marketing collateral, brochures, practice profiles, placemats, announcements, invitations, etc.
- Delivers periodic training both individually and in group settings to attorneys on topics such as media relations, best practices for social media, etc.
- Other duties as requested and assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in writing-intensive field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in professional services marketing. Law firm experience highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and communication skills both oral and written. Ability to speak effectively and respond to all levels of professional and support staff, clients, or members of the business community, with a high degree of responsiveness, diplomacy, and professionalism.
- Proven ability to manage major projects, coordinating the use of department resources and involving senior management.
- Excellent business writing and editing skills.
- Superb project management skills required, including setting priorities, planning, organizing, follow-through, delegating and negotiating.
- Previous experience successfully managing, mentoring and developing staff.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, graphics applications, social media. Proven aptitude to learn new software applications.
- Team player with a positive attitude, the ability to maintain confidential information, exercise good judgement, follow-through on assigned tasks, juggle several priorities simultaneously, and work effectively under pressure.
Salary Range: $125,000 – $150,000 – the firm considers a number of factors when considering compensation, including but not limited to education, years and levels of relevant experience, competencies, internal pay alignment, and other relevant skills and qualifications.
