Alexandra Viqueira is a member of McCarter’s Government Affairs group and assists clients in actively engaging in relevant matters before the State of New Jersey, local governments, and regulatory agencies and authorities*. Drawing on her background in qualitative and psychiatric research and analysis, social media management, and marketing, she also works with government clients to facilitate public interest programs and partnerships.

Alexandra is a registered Government Affairs Agent in New Jersey. Her recent experience includes legislative and regulatory advocacy on behalf of clients in alcohol retail, telecommunications, pharmaceutical, cryptocurrency, cannabis, and various other industries; managing government mandated civilian oversight activities; issue management research, monitoring and reporting; and other activities connecting public and private interests and assisting administrative proceedings.

Prior to working in New Jersey public affairs, Alexandra served as a research assistant for Duke University Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and assisted with two clinical NIH studies focusing on psychiatry and neuroscience.

Her experience also includes supporting research, governance, and civil society program activities in Jordan and Lebanon. As a research assistant for the Al Hayat Center for Civil Society Development in Amman, Jordan,  Alexandra worked on counter-extremism research and community partnerships, mock-election training, producing embassy issue reports, and fundraising. In Beirut, Lebanon, Alexandra helped manage US-model higher education training for low-income and refugee youth with US interfaith relations leaders and local organizations.

Mentored and trained by the Peter Westbrook Foundation in Manhattan, New York, Alexandra is a former Division I recruited fencer and an international and national medalist.

Alexandra is a graduate of Duke University with a degree in international comparative studies and Arabic language. As an undergraduate student, she participated in a US-Mexico border research exchange between Duke University and Universidad de Puebla. While at Duke, she also supported immigration legal advocacy and local undocumented resident affairs. Alexandra continues to participate in immigration and climate justice activities in New Jersey.
