John Garrity is an intellectual property lawyer focusing on global patent preparation and prosecution of a broad range of technology patents including those involving electrical and semiconductor circuitry.
John works with all types of clients including startups and established corporations. He employs proven analysis and patent application strategies for client counseling and to identify and analyze patent ideas and inventions for development and commercialization.
In addition to preparation and prosecution of patent applications, John prepares opinions on patentability, portfolio management, and infringement identification.
John has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New Haven with majors in biology and computer science. He worked for many years with a large corporate partner on patent filing and prosecution involving cellular phone technologies.
Prior to becoming a patent attorney, John received formal training in electronics including alarm systems, power inverter systems, computers, and network systems. He obtained Cisco CNE certifications to become a consulting engineer specializing in wireless technologies and wired network perimeter security equipment implementations. His engineering training included the newest IPSEC communications, network intrusion, and firewall. In wireless technology, John worked on multiple 802.11 wireless protocol implementations for wireless security. During his corporate tenures John attended wireless and security technology standards meetings to discuss new technology.
An experienced speaker, John has given presentations on network security infrastructures and wireless technologies, including a presentation to the FBI in Trumbull, CT, on network security implementations.
