Megan K. Shannon

Megan Shannon represents policyholders in disputes with insurance companies involving a wide range of insurance policies. She counsels clients on insurance recovery matters including general liability defense, policyholder-side coverage litigation, civil litigation and commercial disputes. Megan is active in state and federal court, and regularly assists clients in evaluating their current and ongoing insurance coverage needs.

Megan also handles government transparency related matters on behalf of clients. She represents individuals and organizations seeking public records from Pennsylvania state and local agencies from the initial request through appeals to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. She has also advised agencies on their compliance with the Pennsylvania Right-To-Know Law.

Representative Matters

Represented a records requester in an appeal of a Pennsylvania Office of Open Roads final determination that certain Public Utility Commission records do not contain confidential security information and therefore must be disclosed and argued before the Commonwealth and Pennsylvania Supreme Court.

Obtained multimillion arbitration award for a manufacturing client for property loss and business interruption claim resulting from insurer’s delay in adjusting the property claim.

Conducted internal investigation on behalf of national corporation following instance of employee misconduct and wrote winning motion to transfer venue out of Philadelphia County in related personal injury case, prevailing in the trial court, Commonwealth Court, and Pennsylvania Supreme Court.

Obtained judgment on the pleadings and summary judgment in several cases based on the Sovereign Immunity doctrine.
