Dr. Mei Bai’s practice focuses on patent preparation and prosecution in the medical biotechnology, agricultural biotechnology, pharmaceutics, organic chemistry, and physical chemistry. Her projects include nucleic acids, proteins, polysaccharides, antibodies, vaccine, microorganisms, somatic stem cells, transgenic plants, transgenic animals, diagnosis/prognosis/treatment of various disorders, synthetic polymers, small-molecule compounds, formulations, implants, and nano-materials. She works with individual inventors, universities, research institutes, pharmaceutical companies, and biotechnological companies.

Prior to starting her legal career, Mei was an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School, conducting research on the structure-function relationship of a G protein-coupled receptor involved in calcium homeostasis. She obtained her PhD degree in organic chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Glenn Prestwich in SUNY at Stony Brook. Her PhD thesis is related to squalene epoxidase inhibitors. Mei moved to Brookhaven National Laboratory and gained her experience in virology, cell biology, and molecular biology during her postdoctoral training. Her research project was directed to elucidation of adenoviral entry mechanisms. Throughout her research career, she was named as an inventor in a US patent and as an author in forty-five articles published in reputable journals, including Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci., J. Biol. Chem., and J. Clin. Invest.
