Michelle Smith is the Pro Bono Fellow for the City of Newark, focusing her practice on landlord tenant litigation. Prior to joining the firm, she served as a law clerk to the Hon. Alberto Rivas, J.S.C., in the Middlesex County Superior Court, Law Division.
During law school, Michelle worked as a law clerk for Volunteer Lawyers for Justice, a non-profit in Newark, NJ, where she assisted the consumer debt and bankruptcy programs, the criminal record expungement program, and represented clients in landlord-tenant matters. She graduated cum laude from Rutgers Law School where she served as vice president of the Evening Student Association and a volunteer coordinator for the school’s pro bono program.
