William Brown represents lenders and banking institutions regarding creditors’ rights and commercial contractual disputes and actions to enforce promissory notes and guarantees. Bill assists secured creditors in contractual actions and various bankruptcy court proceedings, including actions objecting to discharge or the dischargeability of a particular debt, motions to lift the automatic stay, and avoidance actions. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Bill has been part of a team of McCarter lawyers providing guidance to clients concerning the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Paycheck Protection Program, Economic Injury Disaster Loans, and the Restaurant Revitalization Fund. Bill has helped clients receive millions of dollars in forgivable loans.
As a former member of the U.S. Navy SEALs and an Iraq War veteran, Bill is active in the veterans community. He organized a Navy SEAL Hudson River Swim and Run, which has become an annual fundraiser to support the GI Go Fund, a nonprofit organization that assists New York and New Jersey veterans. He was elected as president of the Veteran Alumni of Rutgers University.
