Actor Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s disease research foundation hit a New Jersey medical lab Friday with a federal breach of contract suit, claiming negligence at its facility caused the loss of over $3.5 million in biospecimens collected to further Parkinson’s research.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research Inc. filed suit in New Jersey federal court against the Coriell Institute for Medical Research Inc. of Camden, New Jersey. According to the foundation’s complaint, Coriell was entrusted with thousands of biospecimens collected to further research but rendered them unusable by failing to properly refrigerate them.
