Antitrust lawsuits are piling up against Google as major publishers seek to build on a federal court ruling that found the company unlawfully monopolized the online advertising technology market.
The consolidated cases allege that Google violated federal antitrust laws by dominating key components of digital display advertising, limiting competition, and reducing publisher revenue. With liability already established at the district court level, private plaintiffs are increasingly positioned to pursue damages for lost advertising income.
McCarter partner and former DOJ antitrust attorney, Robin Crauthers, recently told Bloomberg Law that the ruling has created a favorable environment for follow-on litigation. “Now the iron is sort of hot,” Robin said. “We are going to see a snowball effect.”
