The District of Delaware is making news with two announcements that could affect practitioners across the Delaware litigation bar.

Burke will not seek reappointment when his term expires in August 2027, concluding 16 years of service on the bench. The article highlights Judge Burke’s contributions to the Court, including his leadership of the Federal Trial Practice Seminar, which has helped train generations of Delaware litigators.
The article also examines the Court’s revised Local Rules, which take effect September 1, 2026. While the updates are largely procedural, they include changes to case management and deposition practice, including the elimination of certain client-certification requirements for scheduling requests and clarification that depositions must pause when disputes arise and cannot begin again until they are resolved.
