Despite US-China Tariff Pause, Business Pressures Persist

In a recent conversation with Law360, McCarter & English partner Zack Hadžismajlović commented on the U.S.-China agreement to pause tariffs for 90-days, emphasizing that this short-term measure does little to alleviate the underlying uncertainty regarding global trade. “Business doesn’t thrive in uncertainty,” Hadzismajlovic said. “When one considers that a container may take over a month to simply complete the voyage from China to the United States, you have a better appreciation of the fact that this announcement will do little to quell anxiety for buyers and sellers worldwide.”
