The US Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration recently proposed revisions to its hours-of-service regulations to offer more flexibility for commercial drivers regarding when they are required to rest.
“It’s a true attempt to allow drivers flexibility and allow them to be better able to use on-duty time as they or their owners see fit,” said McCarter partner Ron Leibman. “That might turn out to be very significant, for example, if a consignee is holding you up or your delivery. I don’t see anything that would negatively affect safety.”
