March’s guest speaker was Edward Bastian, CEO of Delta Air Lines, Inc. Mr. Bastian discussed how he revitalized Delta by focusing on its employees. By introducing a profit-sharing philosophy, Delta’s 80,000 employees’ earnings increased by 80%. He also offered his views on the future development of airlines, including efforts to appeal to the millennial generation. Mr. Bastian mentioned a recent meeting with President Trump and discussed the relationship between airlines and politics. Delta Air Lines is one of the world’s largest airlines by traffic. Delta serves more than 180 million customers each year and offers service to 323 destinations in 57 countries on six continents. Delta’s adjusted net income for 2016 was $604 million.
