This training on cybersecurity in government contracting cover two topics essentials to understanding the government’s requirements for prime contractors: Controlled Unclassified Information & the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification.
The first part of this training covers controlled unclassified information (CUI). CUI is the government’s approach to labelling and safeguarding throughout the federal government. Contracts that include CUI carry special requirements that contractors must abide to protect CUI. Through lecture, practical example, and case-study, the first part of this training teaches attendees how information becomes CUI, how contractors should handle CUI, and how to navigate common CUI-related issues.
The second part of the training covers the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certificate (CMMC). The CMMC has been a developing part of the government contracting discussion for several years. The program certifies contractor cybersecurity programs as capable of handling information on contracts at varying levels of sensitivity. During the second part of Exploring Controlled Information & Cybersecurity Maturity, the instructors use lecture, practical example, and case study to describe the CMMC program, where it comes from, what it asks of contractors, and what contractors need to do before they begin work on a CMMC covered contract.
