Vanessa Roberts Avery, who recently stepped down as US attorney for the District of Connecticut, has returned to her roots as a business litigator at McCarter & English’s Hartford office. In her new role, she will help clients across industries in business, criminal and civil litigation matters, including trial and appellate work.
Vanessa spoke with Law360 Pulse about her return to McCarter & English and said the firm has “a great culture that’s down to earth and collaborative.” She said, “They are very much connected to community, whether it’s through pro bono work or volunteering … And on top of all of that, they have a very sophisticated and innovative practice with a national reach.”
Firmwide Managing Partner Joseph Boccassini shared excitement over Vanessa’s return and said, “We were so proud when Vanessa was nominated by President Biden to serve the people of Connecticut as its first African-American female U.S. Attorney, and are so happy she chose to come back to McCarter’s growing Hartford office.”
