Former US Attorney Zachary Myers has decided to stay in Indianapolis, joining McCarter & English as a partner after serving 15 years with the Department of Justice. Zach spoke with The Indiana Lawyer about the transition and said, “I’m excited to move on to the next chapter and figure out where things go from here.”
In 2021, he became the first Black US Attorney in the Indiana Southern District and shared, “ I was very aware that I would be a first, and that was, I think, one of the reasons that convinced me to do it was because representation matters.” During his time at the DOJ, Zach worked closely with the department’s National Security Division, Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section, and Fraud Section, as well as with the Office of International Affairs and foreign law enforcement agencies to obtain evidence overseas, extradite defendants for prosecution in the United States, and facilitate European prosecutions.
In Maryland, he led the U.S. Attorney’s office cybercrime investigations and prosecutions, including responding to data breaches, ransomware, and insider threats. He helped create the Office’s National Security & Cybercrime Section and served as the district’s first Cybercrime Counsel.
At McCarter, Zack will leverage his years of experience in the firm’s Business Litigation practice group supporting clients across industries, including technology, fintech, traditional finance, healthcare, life sciences, government, and tax-exempt entities. He will also be co-leading the multidisciplinary cybersecurity and data privacy team.
“Zach’s leadership experience as a U.S. Attorney, coupled with his far-reaching connections nationally throughout the public and private sectors and his passion for staying on the cutting edge of technological advancements, will benefit the firm and our clients both locally and nationally,” said Amy Fisher, co-managing partner of the firm’s Indianapolis office. “We are thrilled that Zach has decided to join us. Zach’s industry knowledge, client connections, vision, and energy will no doubt reinforce our Indianapolis office’s quickly growing reputation as a hub for exceptional legal talent in the region.”
