McCarter & English LLP has bolstered its product liability practice group with the addition of a Porzio Bromberg & Newman attorney, who also has experience in life sciences, in its Newark, N.J., office, the firm said Tuesday.

Kenneth R. Meyer, a senior trial lawyer certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court, previously served as chairman of the product liability and life sciences practice groups during his 28 years at Porzio Bromberg & Newman. He joined McCarter’s Newark office as a partner on Dec. 10.

“We are thrilled to have Ken on board at McCarter,” Edward J. Fanning Jr., leader of the product liability practice group at McCarter & English, told Law360 on Wednesday. “He’s a major player in product liability litigation defense, and any firm would be delighted to have him.”

“His practice and the industry sectors in which his clients do business mesh extremely well with our existing product liability practice,” Fanning continued. “His strength lies in his ability to keep clients out of litigation when he can, and winning trials for them when he must. Our clients, both old and new, will be well-served by his knowledge of the law, advocacy skills, experience and perspective.”
