Erin Prest, former FBI Privacy & Civil Liberties Officer and Deputy General Counsel has joined the firm’s cybersecurity team as a partner in the firm’s Washington, DC office. At McCarter, she will focus on data privacy, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.
Erin handled an array of matters at the FBI, including compliance with federal privacy laws, response to cybersecurity incidents affecting FBI information and the protection of biometric information, such as facial recognition data and iris scans. She was also responsible for legal guidance related to criminal investigative activities, crisis response, procurement and other topics.
Erin spoke to Law360 about her decision to join McCarter & English after 18 years with the FBI, confirming she was looking for a firm that “was a good fit” and would share her values. “I wanted a place where the people would be working together on behalf of what’s best for the client,” she said.
