McCarter & English today announced the addition of Stephanie Reed Traband as a partner based in the firm’s Miami office. Traband joins the firm’s Bankruptcy, Restructuring & Litigation Group and its Alternative Dispute Resolution & Mediation Group, focusing on creditors’ rights and receiverships, commercial and appellate litigation, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) work.
“Stephanie is well respected both inside and outside the courtroom and is a welcome addition to our growing Miami office,” said Joseph Lubertazzi, Jr., chairman of the firm’s Executive Committee. “Our clients will benefit from her strong record in commercial and creditors’ rights litigation and her receivership and arbitration experience.”
Traband represents clients in resolving commercial contract and business disputes and has served as a deputy receiver and counsel to receivers in state and federal actions involving fraud, Ponzi schemes, or consumer protection violations. She has represented several national and local banks in creditors’ rights work, including commercial foreclosures, and in lender liability defense. In addition, Traband represents myriad clients in ADR proceedings and is an American Arbitration Association panelist, a Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) panelist, and a Florida Supreme Court-qualified arbitrator.
“I’ve always thought highly of McCarter from a distance, and once I was introduced to members of the firm, I saw the chemistry among the lawyers was so natural that I immediately felt like I was home,” Traband said. “I am especially excited to help build out the firm’s ADR practice in South Florida. The firm’s national footprint is also going to be an asset for my clients.”
“Stephanie’s ADR work speaks for itself. She is without a doubt a top-in-class attorney in her field,” said Judge Jose Linares, chair of McCarter’s Alternative Dispute Resolution & Mediation Group. “The firm and its clients are certain to benefit from her depth of industry knowledge and keen negotiating skills.”
Traband received her J.D. from Tulane University School of Law and her B.A. in political science from the University of Tennessee. She serves in leadership roles in her chapters of Florida Lawyers Network and Ms. Esquire, and is active in several associations, including the Miami International Arbitration Society, Legalmondo, and AIJA, where she is an honorary member. She is also active in Grace Church Miami and the Miracle League of Miami-Dade.
