Supporters of a proposed data center and power plant at the University of Delaware’s STAR campus are calling on lawmakers to investigate the failed project following new allegations by the developer that the university sabotaged the effort and lied to the public.
“Let’s find out what really happened,” Sam Lathem, president of the Delaware State AFL-CIO said Thursday after learning of the allegations in a 66-page lawsuit filed against the University of Delaware by The Data Centers LLC of West Chester, Pennsylvania.
State Sen. Colin Bonini, a Dover Republican, called The Data Centers’ claims “disturbing,” particularly because the university receives state money.
“These are serious allegations,” Bonini said. “Given the significant impact this has had on our state’s economy and the very real damage it has done to our state’s already fading business-friendly reputation, we need to ask tough questions as to what really happened.”
