Veteran litigator Curtis B. Leitner has joined McCarter & English, LLP as a partner in the firm’s Business Litigation Group in New York. His practice focuses on complex civil litigation and white-collar criminal and regulatory enforcement matters. Leitner also provides strategic advice and counsel to clients operating in a range of industries.

Leitner has extensive experience handling complex commercial disputes, including matters relating to acquisitions, capital raises, commercial leases, broker agreements, and employment contracts. In addition, he has represented individuals and corporate clients in diverse matters involving professional liability; insider trading, fraud, and business crimes; ERISA; bankruptcy proceedings; civil rights; and sexual harassment and discrimination claims.
Leitner joins McCarter from Morvillo Abramowitz Grand Iason & Anello P.C., where he developed a white collar and regulatory defense practice, representing individuals and companies under investigation by the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, FINRA, the New York County District Attorney’s Office, and state agencies.
Prior to his private practice, Leitner served as a law clerk to Judge Debra Livingston of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and Judge Freda Wolfson of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. Judge Livingston and Judge Wolfson now serve as Chief Judge for their respective courts.
Leitner is the vice president of membership for the Dartmouth Lawyers Association. He was recognized by Thompson Reuters’ Super Lawyers as a “Super Lawyer” in 2019 through 2022, and as a “Rising Star” from 2015 through 2018. Leitner received his J.D. from Harvard Law School, magna cum laude, and his B.A. from Dartmouth College, summa cum laude.
