McCarter & English is pleased to announce that Amy Haberman has returned to the firm as a partner and Alexandra Chalons-Browne as an associate in its Immigration Practice in the firm’s New York and Stamford offices, respectively. Both attorneys return to McCarter following their time at Foley Hoag.
“Amy’s return is both professionally significant and personally meaningful for many of us at McCarter,” said firm Managing Partner Joseph Boccassini. “What makes Amy such a valued advisor is not only her technical skill, but also the way she builds relationships and collaborates across teams. We are so happy to welcome both Amy and Alexandra home to McCarter.”
Haberman advises domestic and multinational companies on employment-based immigration matters, including the recruitment, transfer, and retention of foreign national executives and employees across industries such as technology, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, and other growth-focused sectors. She also counsels clients on the immigration aspects of mergers and acquisitions, I-9 compliance, Department of Labor requirements, and long-term work authorization strategies for foreign student candidates.
In addition, Haberman has significant experience advising startup and emerging growth companies on immigration strategies critical to business expansion and talent acquisition.
“McCarter is the firm where I developed as an attorney, and I was very lucky to be surrounded by colleagues and mentors who were committed to excellence and maintaining a culture of professional generosity, warmth, and community,” said Haberman. “I’m so happy to be returning to what feels like my extended family, and grateful that my clients have chosen to join me.”
Haberman held several leadership roles during her earlier tenure at McCarter, including serving as Chair of the firm’s Labor & Employment Group and as Office Managing Partner of the firm’s Stamford, Conn. office.
Chalons-Browne works closely with Haberman on employment-based immigration matters. She began her legal career as an associate at McCarter.
Haberman received her J.D. from Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, and her B.A. from Binghamton University, State University of New York. Chalons-Browne received her J.D. from Quinnipiac University School of Law, and her B.A. from Lafayette College.
