McCarter & English announces the appointment of Kate Roggio Buck as co-managing partner for its Wilmington, Delaware, office. Kate is a commercial litigator and bankruptcy attorney with experience handling claims dealing with construction, real estate, products liability, and sports & entertainment, with an 18-year tenure with McCarter.
Kate points to the growth of the Delaware office and its continued expansion in the areas where the Firm serves its clients as a reason for her appointment. “Leading such a dynamic office is an important and ever-expanding undertaking, so it was a natural progression to add a co-managing partner to ensure that our attorneys and staff continue to have opportunities to grow individually and as a team.” She also says, “Perhaps the most important lesson I have learned and see in action every day at McCarter is the understanding that everyone at the firm, both lawyers and staff, contribute to the success of the business, and that it is vital to that success that we do not lose sight of the human elements.”
Kate shares her goal for the new role. “I plan to continue exploring strategic growth to meet client needs while maintaining the collegial culture for which our office is known. Dan Silver, the office’s other managing partner, and I have worked together for over 15 years on a variety of cases, including many pro bono matters, so we are confident that our complementary styles will serve the firm well.” She reflects on her undergraduate education as the best experience to have prepared her for an office managing partner role, saying “I believe my undergraduate education in human development, which was a logical extension of my lifelong interest in the impact of individual and shared experiences, set me up for a career with gradually increasing leadership roles.”
“One of the things I loved most about McCarter from day one was its obvious commitment to pro bono. The firm strongly encourages all attorneys to get involved in pro bono work, and our performance metrics count unlimited pro bono hours toward each attorney’s hourly goals,” says Kate, reflecting on her legal career being spent at McCarter and her passion for pro bono work.
