President-elect Donald Trump will return to the White House early next year with plans to cut federal spending and curtail regulation, policy shirts that will have implications for Greater Washington’s technology sector and government contractors. What’s hard to know is if Trump 2.0 will be positive for those industries, negative, or something in between.
Michael Maitland, a member of McCarter’s Government Affairs group, spoke with the Washington Business Journal about the outlook for the tech and clean energy sectors, noting that while some have expressed “trepidation” about a new administration, those same clients, view Trump’s deregulatory tendencies as potentially positive for their businesses.
“There’s an opportunity for innovation to be unleashed by deregulation,” he said. “But how far does that go, and can it go overboard?”
