Seventy-four delegates from New Haven — one of the largest delegations in Connecticut — will vote on the next Democratic nominee for governor of Connecticut next month. Which candidate will receive the party’s formal nomination in advance of the primary election?
McCarter Senior Government Affairs Advisor Vincent Mauro, Jr., who serves as the chair of New Haven’s Democratic Town Committee, spoke with Yale Daily News about the election and the decision New Haven’s delegates need to make.
“People err on the side of incumbency, but I do believe that this is a different election where I think people are going to want to see more to elect someone for a third term. So I don’t predict where delegates are going to go,” Vin said.
Vin also noted that because many of New Haven’s delegates are elected officials themselves, they will likely “talk to their friends and neighborhoods” and “then make their decision.”
