Healthcare Attorney George Kendall Returns to McCarter & English

Press Release/NJBIZ/Law360 Pulse

5.6.2021

McCarter & English, LLP, welcomes back partner George H. Kendall to its Healthcare and Public Finance practices in Newark. Kendall, who was previously a partner with the firm from 1994 to 2008, has advised clients on strategic transactions, regulatory compliance, governance, value-based care models, and hospital-physician alignment for more than 30 years. Kendall is a trusted advisor to boards of directors and executive management teams at hospitals and health systems.

“We are thrilled to have George rejoin our firm, where he practiced with distinction for so many years,” said Scott Kobler, head of McCarter’s Healthcare practice. “His excellent reputation and deep knowledge of the healthcare industry, its regulations, and its governance structures will greatly benefit our clients. His personal dedication to client service complements the approach of our comprehensive team as we address the legal needs of healthcare providers across a broad range of business issues.”

McCarter is widely recognized for handling sophisticated healthcare transactions and litigation, with particular strengths in mergers and acquisitions, finance, intellectual property, cybersecurity, employment, tax, nonprofit organizations, creditor rights, and real estate.

Kendall added, “It’s a pleasure to return to McCarter to work again with so many outstanding lawyers and practice groups. The firm’s platform supports my practice perfectly. I look forward to collaborating with my colleagues to continue to grow and strengthen our Healthcare practice.”

Kendall’s practice primarily focuses on representing healthcare providers—including hospitals and health systems, behavioral health providers, home health agencies, and physician groups—on strategic transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings, joint ventures, change-of-member transactions, and other types of business deals.

Kendall also advises healthcare organizations and their boards on governance matters and compliance issues. He counsels health systems on implementing efficient governance models and practices following periods of substantial growth. He also advises clients on privacy and tax laws, self-referral restrictions, and other state and federal regulations and defends clients in governmental and internal investigations, including fraud and abuse and Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) matters.

Kendall graduated, cum laude, from Villanova University School of Law and from Franklin and Marshall College. He is a member of the New Jersey Bar.

Kendall joins McCarter from Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP in Florham Park, New Jersey.
