The US District Court of the District of Columbia has dismissed antitrust claims against Meta Platforms Inc., finding that the company does not hold a monopoly in a market that includes TikTok and other competitors.
McCarter & English partner and former DOJ Antitrust Division attorney Robin Crauthers told the National Law Journal that the ruling likely reduces Meta’s exposure to future monopolization claims. “If there was any bubbling private litigation, I suspect those litigations will not happen,” she said. “I don’t think the private plaintiffs’ bar will chase this particular issue, so it does insulate Meta from some antitrust cases.”
