McCarter’s Venture Capital & Emerging Growth Companies Practice lawyers empower clients throughout the development cycle—from ideation to creation, capitalization, implementation, commercialization, and monetization. We continue to rank among the leading global law firms in venture capital transactions, according to the recently released PitchBook 1Q 2019 Global League Tables. Based on deal activity, we rank:
- 6th in the Mid-Atlantic
- 6th in the East
- 11th in the United States
- 11th in the world in software deals
- 12th in the world overall
- 12th in the world in global early-stage deals
Another firm highlight is our exciting partnership with the 2019 NYU Entrepreneurial Institute’s Summer Launchpad. Seven NYU startup teams get to build out their ventures in a 9-week program and receive $15,000 in services, including incorporation and legal counsel from McCarter’s venture capital lawyers.
Notable achievements from our clients and contacts have also made headlines. McCarter’s Scott Smedresman and Herb Moore recently represented Harlem Capital Partners in launching a strategic partnership with KKR & Co. to advance female and minority investors and entrepreneurs. Forbes “30 Under 30” alumni Jarrid Tingle, Henri Pierre-Jacques, Brandon Bryant, and John Henry created Harlem Capital to change “the face of entrepreneurship”—now they are collaborating with one of the world’s largest private equity firms to increase diversity in the world of private equity, venture capital, and alternative investments. Snowball is launching their mobile app to iOS users in June with Android and eventual global release to follow. The app is an easy-to-use place for investors to begin their crypto investing journey. It offers bundled investment options called “crypto portfolios” to take the guesswork out of choosing which tokens to buy and sell. Crescent Crypto is making cryptocurrencies accessible to mainstream investors. In partnership with asset management firm USCF, Crescent Crypto filed a registration statement for a cryptocurrency exchange-traded product, which is an essential step in the process. Bot mitigation startup Distil Networks, an ff Venture Capital portfolio company, has been sold to Imperva. McCarter’s Dave Sorin, Stephen Fox, and Herb Moore represented ff Venture Capital as a minority shareholder in the deal. Speak2Software won TechLaunch’s BullPen competition. The company combines voice recognition and machine learning technology to allow users, initially comprising seniors with chronic impairment, to improve quality of life, healthcare delivery, and residential services.
