McCarter & English, LLP is pleased to announce that Vincent Mauro, Jr. has been named Senior Advisor to the Connecticut Democratic Party. In this role, Vin will provide strategic counsel to the State Central Executive Committee and work alongside Democratic elected officials across Connecticut to build and strengthen voter engagement programs.
“Vin knows firsthand what it takes to run a disciplined campaign, win tough races and inspire our Democratic base,” said Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont in a press release. “His appointment as Senior Advisor is a major win for Connecticut Democrats because Vinnie is a collaborator at heart. He understands the unique challenges our local town committees face, and he has the strategic vision to help our chairs maximize their ground games. I’m thrilled he’s taking on this role to help us build a unified, energized statewide team headed into November.”
Maruo, a Senior Government Affairs Advisor at the firm, has more than 25 years of experience in political and municipal settings in Connecticut. He serves as chair of the local Democratic Town Committee, an elected position he first won in 2013. Before joining McCarter, Maruo served as Chief of Staff for Connecticut’s Senate Democrats, a position he held for more than two decades. He began his tenure with Connecticut’s Senate Democrats in 1996 as a legislative aide to Martin Looney. He also worked as special counsel to the Senate Majority Leader from 2003 to 2014 before being named Chief of Staff in 2015.
I’m honored to take on this role and to help strengthen our Democratic base across Connecticut,” said Mauro in the same press release. “Our party’s strength comes from our people — from the activists, the organizers, and the local leaders who show up every single day. I look forward to working closely with our elected officials, our town committees, and our town chairs in every corner of the state to expand voter engagement, support our candidates on the ground, and make sure Democrats continue delivering results for Connecticut families — and celebrate big wins up and down our ticket in November.”
