McCarter & English, LLP is seeking a New Business Supervisor to oversee the new business intake process and the Conflicts Analysts while providing assistance to the attorneys and legal assistants of the Firm as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Supervise the conflict checking process for all new clients and matter
- Review conflicts checks within Intapp Open to track their progress, ensuring they are being done in a timely fashion and assist the analysts when needed. Oftentimes, the Supervisor will be actively running conflicts searches
- Keep track and follow up on “Rush” conflict requests and ensure they are processed in a timely fashion
- Oversight and maintenance of the new business workflow, specifically moving requests around to workflow participants, ensuring requests are progressing at an acceptable pace, and declining matters that have been pending too long
- Help users utilize the Intapp Open system either by instructions or by showing them firsthand
- Manage the NBIG mailbox to ensure timely responses to all inquiries
- Supervise Conflicts Analysts, including providing training on best practices, managing workload, and keeping track of PTO so the department is not left short staffed
Additional Duties:
- Work with the Firm’s General Counsel to make sure all prospective parties are accurate, as well as making sure the engagement letters and waiver language is consistent with firm policies and procedures.
- Assist Billing or Accounts Payable in client/matter searches and problem solving

While we are currently a decentralized conflicts firm (i.e. the attorneys are responsible for reviewing and clearing conflicts), we are exploring moving to a centralized format (i.e. a few conflicts attorneys would oversee the day-to-day conflicts analysis). This role would be involved with the eventual transition and previous experience in a centralized environment would be valuable.
