Represented a significant New Jersey hospital in negotiating a community service agreement with a New Jersey municipality. The city was challenging the tax exempt status of our client’s various hospital purpose properties located in the city. Settled at an annual $4 million payment, which was $61 million less annually than the city’s initial settlement proposal. All currently exempt properties will remain exempt for at least the next six years. Settlement of the matter also resulted in the city taking steps to approve a new state of the art medical facility in the city to be built by our client.
